Marioin M. Dokes Wells

Marion Mae Dokes Wells (aka “Tiny”) daughter of Ernest Dokes and Jessie Mae Dokes was born in Hammond, Louisianna on May 28, 1937. Marion Mae Dokes Wells sister to six brothers Hennan Dokes, Ernest Dokes Jr., Charles Dokes, Ozzie Dokes, Lawrence Dokes Sr., and Alfred Dokes two sisters Ruth Brumfield and surviving sister Rachel Daniels. The family up rooted from the Southern state of Hammond, LA in the early 1950’s and later they settled Westcoast in Vallejo, CA. Being raised in Vallejo, CA Marion Mae Dokes Wells also attended Vallejo High School and devoted her spiritual growth in membership at Kyles Temple AME Zion Church. Marion Mae Dokes Wells later relocated to Sacramento, CA, where she continued her membership at the Kyles Temple AME Zion Sacramento chapter and graduated from McMclatchy High School “Class of 1958”. Marion Mae Dokes Wells honored Berthan Clyde Wells and united in marriage on New Year’s Eve 1963 sharing their love for over 50 years. Together, they created three children whome they adored Jeanice Turner, Tone Wells and Jerone Wells. Momma Wells worked at Methodist Hospital and retired after 18 years of commitment. Momma Wells served her community as a forster parent beginning in year 2000. Marion Mae Dokes Wells enjoyed, dancing, trips the casino, Tonk card game parties and Gospel and Blues, Her favorite song is “Mary Don’t You Weap” and “Last $2”. Her favorite artist Lee Williams and Buddy Ace. Marion Wells will be most remembered for her shooting from the hip quick wit. Her favorite sayings “See You In The Funny Papers”, Thank you, Your Kindness will be ablubberated”, “Motor Mouth Shirley.” Marion Mae Dokes Wells celebrated life. Her son Tone Wells, husband Bertram Wells and grandson, Devon Turner. Parents, six brothers and one sister and cousin Betty Legard all passed prior to Marion Mae Dokes Wells gradual decline in health. Marion Mae Dokes Wells is survived by many loved family and friends, CHILDREN: Jeanice Turner and Jerone Wells, Sr.,. GRANDCHILDREN: Kenny, Jerome, Jermaine, Bertram, Shayvonne, Monique, Angelo, Jaya, Kiah; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: King Wells and Jhordyn Wells. SISTER: Rachel Daniels, SISTERS INLAW: Vera Nash, Doris Collier and Thesse Jones. AUNT: Mary Ann Page. BEST FRIENDS: Ms. Tillis, Doris Perryman and Dorthery Pleasant. GOD CHILDREN: Dwayne Redd Sr., and Gerald Kendricks, Momma Wells was a community Mother, God Mother and Foster Parent to many others.
